Things I have been making....

I have been sewing almost every day since the kids went back to school.
So far, I have made several diaper bags, including Kara's.  A couple of boxy bags, a custom school bag, and a custom dress bag.

The dress was from a friend of my sister Sarah. She wore it on her first date with her husband, and loved the fabric, but not the shape of the dress. So she asked if I would make it into a bag for the baby she is expecting (her third). It was a great challenge, but I was so nervous to cut into the dress!

Kara Please Don't Go...

This week Jay and I watch our dear friends Jordan and Kara move up to Quantico.  They have been such  wonderful friends, and although this is not goodbye, it will be hard to not see them every week. They just got back last week from Africa, bringing home their second child from an orphanage in Nigeria.  I have fallen in love with little Ajuma as fast as I fell in love with Job.

Our Bible Study girls came over to my house after study Thursday to have a little "Please don't go" brunch.  The turn out was great, and I think everyone was excited to meet Ajuma, eat and chat.

The group gave Kara a signed card and a Target gift card. And I made Kara a diaper bag, so she could throw away the Wal-Mart bag. :)

Kara makes a perfect bag model. :)

My Polyvores & OOTD

First, my outfit of the day- what I wore to church this morning:
I LOVE this dress. I have had it a couple of years, and still love it as much as the day I bought it. Jay just took it to the dry cleaners for me, so it is like having an old friend back. ;-)  This is a size 6, but I have lost so much weight it looked like a tent.  Since I love it so much, I decided to belt it- I think it looks great.

Dress: Anthropologie- Floreat, "Finch & Thistle"
Belt: Anthropologie- "Cake Decoration Belt"
Earings: Dillards (clearance)
Shoes: Payless!- Satin Ballet Flats

Secondly:
Jay and I went down to MacAurthur and had lunch and walked around while the kids were in school Friday. Which means I got to go to J Crew and Nordstroms, since those are the nearest locations. The shoe dept at Nordstroms is like dying and going to Heaven.  I sure hope Jesus loves shoes as much as I do.
I picked up this sweater, this tank, and this tee (in short sleeve) off the clearance rack at J Crew.  So I sent a list of what I got to this sweet blogger I follow. I LOVE her easy style (she has a bunch of kids, too) and she is modest!  Thus, the name, duh.  She writes Modestly Styled, Modestly Me.  So Debye created all these great Polyvores for me, using my new purchases.  I am so excited, since almost all of the things she included I already have- or have similar of....

Totally love ALL of them, but the jeans with the Eden blazer, and the tank is probably my favorite.  Since I have all that stuff! :)

Thanks so much Debye!
